Jan 02

SUMMARY:

20/14/2.5 - 3424H - $22.25 - 1.29/100 - WWSF 42.69% - WSD 43.43%

I think I limped more than what's considered optimum for the purpose of getting into a hand with a fish cheap. Major concern is WSD 43.43%. I expected this since I knew I went to river too often in marginal big pots.

By the way, I've been using PAHUD for the majority of the past months. But it caused serious lags on my computer, especially playing more than 3 tables. It costed me a $50 pot once by freezing out my computer. I'm playing at 4 tables now. I need a faster computer. Since the beginning of this year, I'm actually playing blind. Somehow it doesn't affect much of my play. I think while I'm missing vital player information, I actually get much better reads on players and relied on my senses a lot more. I'll see how I fare. I think at the low levels, as brystmar commented in one of his videos, PAHUD is unnecessary at low stakes. As long as I'm playing solid poker, I'll beat the game.

SESSION 01

Cooler #1: flopped set vs flush 99 vs J7s

Villain is a major FISH, 38/0/0.4 - 68H. I put him on an A or FD and pounded 3 streets with my flopped set of 9s.

Cooler #2: top trips vs flush AQ vs J8s

Again, he called with suited junk and he got there on the turn while I had top trips. I'm such a calling station. LOL.

Bad river call AQs vs K7s

Villain is the other major FISH at the same table, 50/20/1 - 74H. I got good value of him being a calling station on 2 streets. The river completes the flush, he instantly 1/2 potted it. I put him on flush like 90%. I made the hero call to prove me right that he had the nut flush.

LOL. Those are all the major hands at this JUICY table with 2 major fish playing. I ended up being the fish and donated over a BI to the fish. What might be consolating is that later, in a matter of 5 mins, while I was sitting out, both fish with well over 1.5 BI stack, went bust to the other regular sharks, and the table was emptied immediately afterwards. Jeez, I was indeed playing in a table of sharp guys and lucky fish.

SESSION 02

Defied Zeebo's Theorem, tight fold? JQ vs ?? (A?)

I made this loose call for playing a pot with a fish. I was overjoyed to hit the flop, then turned the death card. Fish was 2 barrelling, I had to fold.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 03

Major Blunder, misreading cards! 9Ts vs 55

For some reason, I thought I had 89s.

Successful move with good read 88 vs AJ

Villain is a kinda MANIAC, 50/32/2 - 68H. I min raise his CB on a T high flop. He went on top of me big real quick. My read is that he is not horrible player but too loose and bluff more than usual. His big raise means either premium over pair or total air. I think he is too loose to have JJ+. If he had 9T+, he would call more often than raise. Even when he raises, he should at least take some time to think about my hand and his bet sizing. I went with my gut feeling that he's got air, most likely overcards with 6 outs. He later commented gc :D I do notice him played back at me more than the others later. But I just gave him credit and let him have the small pots.

Reeled in a SHARK :D 44 vs QQ

Villain is a TAG regular 16.5/14.7/3 - 79H

I think the important play was my check on the turn. Villain called my min R on flop, he most likely has an overpair. I showed weakness to let him commit himself to the pot when the turn was a blank. Once he bets the turn, he's ALL IN. I know it's hard for him to let go of his QQ since I just cold called (CC) preflop (PF). He had to put me on 33 or 44 to let go of his hand. Well, had I 88 - TT, I would have folded on the turn. I think I would probably raise big with those pairs on the flop.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 04

Cooler #3: MOST FASCINATING!!! K9s vs JJ

Villain is a major FISH 53.6/10/0.5 - 69H

i made a loose call to get in a pot with a FISH, and as the day's stories went, I was the fish. Villain limped JJ and flopped top set while I flopped 2nd pair and 2nd nut FD! It gets more interesting. The turn made me 2nd trips, I came out firing the pot. Villain called with his turned top BOAT. It gets even more interesting on the river. River is 6c, completing my 2nd nut FD. I potted and villain instantly raise me BIG! I timed down... actually asked if he had the nut flush. I was 99% sure he had the nut flush to raise me this big, though being a fish, he knows nothing about raising size. That 6*pot raise just screams nut flush or better. Then again, I was in the "happy donating fish" mode, I called, expecting AXc. But lo and behold, a fish slowed played top boat all the way!

Folding flopped set to the FISH JJ vs ??s.

I flopped 2nd set, got exciting to stack the fish. Then the turn completed the flush. Fish fired out almost instantly. I thought a bit and folded. Had the board been paired, I'm 100% to get all his $$$. I don't think he's capable of folding nut flush on a paired board. Anyway, I've learnt fish loves to call with suited trash. One's got to learn, right ;)

Gotta get away from PERFECT ROYAL board AJ vs ??

It's all pretty self-explanatory. On a JQKc board, my AJh is marginal, even if villain was making a move on me. Just folded it up and move on.

Cracked a ROCK AK vs AQ

ROCK - 14/4/0.5 - 149H

This is marginal, I expect to see flush or sets a lot. However, I had Ah, so I had to go with the hand. I think I was lucky to have him out kicked. An after thought, such a tight ROCK doesn't have suited connectors much, sets are more likely.

Misplayed on turned top BOAT TT vs ??

24/10.7/1 - 75H

I think I rushed the turn, should have just called. I didn't think too much about his hand. Obviously since he folded on the turn, he didn't have 33 or 44. He's on 77-99. Had I called, best case is that he also rivered boat. But he'll probably call a river bet depending on the river card.

Similar but right play 66 vs ??

FISH 47.5/8.2/0.7 - 61 H

I still cannot put fish on a hand. His min RR on BB is so wide. Now I think he was putting a play on me, probably due to the fact that I steal a lot :D (following CTS's advice on pounding on limpers mercilessly) He min RR my SB raise, check the flop, min R my turn bet, all smelled FISHY!!! But on such a drawy board, I had to put him in. Obviously he didn't understand he was pot committed on the turn already! He had $14 behind with pot size $12.5. He folded and I took down a nice pot.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 05

Getting fancy kills the bird 88 vs AA

32.4/23.4/1.4 - 111H

Villain is fishy, I was definitely out of my senses on every street. LESSON: 88 is not AA, though they sound alike.

Cooler #4: QQ vs KT

I RR on flop fully intending to put villain ALL IN on the turn. I made the pot $11.05 with him having $9.85 behind. Obviously I'm running really cold against all fish today, turned the death card of T. I had to check and he checked behind. He 1/4 pot bet the river, and following my hero call tradition today, I looked him up to see KT. Obviously poor play on his part, check calling, he got minimal value out of his hand, while giving me the most value when I had the best hand.

I like my fold JQ vs ??

My flop call didn't slow him down a bit, so I put him on a set.

LOL! Unbelievable ATROCIOUS FISH play! 68s vs JQ

Seriously, if he's check calling a monster like top BOAT multiway, there is no money in poker for him!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 06

Horrible CALL got REAL LUCKY! KJ vs TT

TAG 19.3/13.8/2.5 - 218H

PF, I made the horrible call with KJo. This makes me realise I was on some kind of TILT. The COOLERS I ran into playing the fish definitely got into me. On the flop, I was a 5 : 95 dog. By turn, improved to 10:90, I was dreading AQ or a set. I pot committed myself and shoved for the best, and I got there. In retrospect, I think villain is also scared of AQ or more likely Q9, he timed down on the turn. So LESSON: don't ever call with KJ; but when you call, GET LUCKY!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 07

Senseless play vs a SHORT STACK (SS) 77 vs JQ

FISH 33/4/0.2 - 124H

As above, got fed up with SS fish and couldn't wait for a better spot to stack them, in the process turning into the fish myself.

FISH GOT MIN VALUE! FUN! TT vs JQ

It's amazing to see fish check calling good hands. I don't understand how that is going to make him $$$???

Missed value here on my 24s vs 88 from a BIG STACK :D

While putting in so many hands, I try to incorporate some elements of surprise in the rare occasions. I over limped 24s on the button in a 4 way pot and flopped bottom 2 Pairs (B2P). I don't villain's play at all. I could be on a lower pair + SD. However, I should have bet the river when he checked. Flush is not a big part of his range. For a sound player, he should not be chasing the flush on the turn. Again, it shows how important it is to take time out and think through the hand. Had I thought about it more, I would have bet the river. LESSON: take time out, think it through, make the best decision.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 08

BABY FLUSH dominated 67s vs QTs

Villain played his hand well. I think my play was ok until the his river min raise. Though the pot odd is more than 3 to 1, I should have folded.

Lucky 67s busted AA

Lately I've experimented with playing suited connectors (SC) a bit more. This is a 20:80 dog suck out. LESSON: fold SC when don't hit. Later you'll see a perfect textbook example of my 45s busting a TT. I learnt from my opponents. I was stacked twice by 56s in the past. Now I'm turning the tables around :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 09

AA held over JJ

FISH 39.6/20.7/0.95 - 53H

No brainer post. I'll post this type of hands the first time, but no more. I find min raising fish gets more action. Big raises scare them off. Obviously do that with strong hands, raise them big with weaker hands ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 10

TILT/FANCY SYNDROME/STUPIDITY whatever you call it! AJs vs AA

It was my first hand on the table, got dealt AJs. BS (3BI) on the Button (BTN) made it $1, I RR, he insta-shoved, I obliged.

His stats turned out to be 20/5/0.87 - 60 H, no brainer fold. I definitely should have folded there, even without any stats.

Cooler #5: Getting fancy with SS got burnt again JJ vs QT

Major FISH 43.75/0/0.55

I'm picking on the fish here. Continuing the day's trend, I ended up donating nearly a BI to the fish. I should definitely check fold the turn. Villain is not betting anything less than Jh. So check it down.

Cooler #6: Flush dominated again by fish 8Ts vs A2s

I didn't think fish would bet out his FD on flop and min bet on turned nut flush. I put villain on a weak K. I was not happy when I got min raised on the river.

Cooler #7: TP failed vs limped Over Pair (OP) 67 vs TT

I think my logic was taken over by my eagerness to bust the fish, gotta be patient.

Fast played top BOAT, stacked a FISH! YEAH! KK vs KT

FISH 60.4/0/0.18 -$44.85 - 48H

Straight forward, the flop R, RR, RRR was FUN! What a FISH. What did he think I have? Obviously he was just playing his cards, thinking his TP was good. I mean, he didn't even think I could have a J! OUTRAGEOUS! I'm playing him everyday!

Sealing my Victory AA vs A8 on 678 flop!

Now I feel sorry for him, I'm a total bully JQ vs A9 on JQK flop!

Overplayed top 2P on flush board 56 vs A9s

I don't mind my turn bet, but on the river it was a total HERO CALL!

Missed value on LUCKY RIVER! A5 vs Q9

Definitely a spot to value bet on the river.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 11

Probably should have smooth called turn 56 vs ??

The turn raise was too obvious, wait for river would be better.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 14

TRICKY Player limping KK, J3s nearly made it!

I just wish I complete my SD, that would be pure GOLD!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 15

BABY HANDS FEST LOL 45s vs 45s vs 33

I was confused the whole way. Notably I min bet the river as a blocking bet, seemed to work for a fish :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 16

TILT: CHASING SD 33 vs ??

Time to STOP playing!!!

TILT: Overplayed FD to a TRICKY top SET KTs vs QQ

31/1/0.3 - 207H

I put him on Q but I was on tilt.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 17

BABY BOAT stacking OP 33 vs 88

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 19

Followed my instincts TT vs 88

I put him on a pair instead of a set. I probably toss away 99.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 20

I love it when small SC busts OP 56s vs TT

DREAM FLOP ;D
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 21

Pot committed my TPTK to a SS's bottom SET AJs vs 55

WINNER'S TILT: Just can't stop making HERO CALLs to flush AJ vs A4s

INTERESTING SPOT AA vs KK and SB Cold Call

I put SB on a Pocket Pair (PP). JJ, QQ most likely. Now normally I would just call and shove on flop or turn with AA. Here I wanted less variance, though my EV would be less. I RR to get it to HU. BTN insta shoved, AA or KK. SB thought for a while and folded. I think SB is on QQ, because JJ would have folded fast. Had he JJ, he would have made top set and busted both of us. Anway, I'm happy with my 2BI stack.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 22

Another HERO CALL AA vs A4s

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 30

BABY FLUSH crushed by NUT FLUSH OOP 57s vs A6s

Totally bad play turn and river. Somehow I don't seem to make flush much at all. So when I get one on the flop, I get very very excited :(

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SESSION 34

WEAK Ace got beat A8s vs AQ

Just before the hand, I remember telling myself not to call with small Aces, chances are I'll be dominated too often. And guess what, this immediately proved it.
